In a similar vein, have you heard this? Unholy mixture of Metallica and ABBA!

Re: Tribute Acts
Beatallica were pretty funny.

Beatles songs as if done by Metallica. Just reminds one how ludicrous James Hetfield "singing" is.

Hey Dude
and
Sgt Hetfield's Motor Pub Breath Band are parodic wonders.

Can't be arsed with links. All on YouTube.

Great thing about doing Floyd, is that if you sound like them, it doesn't really matter what you look like, because it was never about that anyway.

I've closed my eyes at an Aussie Floyd gig before, and I really couldn't swear to being able to tell the difference, exept they are louder live than Floyd were, which was actually an improvement to my damaged ears.

Re: Tribute Acts
There is a band called Elvana who do Nirvana/Elvis songs. I would pay to see that.

I still want to see From the Jam.

The other good thing about seeing tribute acts is that generally they are not 70 years old.

Anyone remember the Chinese bloke who had a restaurant on theOld Kent Road? He was an Elvis fanatic and would regularly entertain customers by singing Broo suede shoes.

Re: Tribute Acts
Seen one of two tribute acts where the musicians have been better than the originals they’re aping.

Australian Pink Floyd are nearly spit on musically.

Some of the old groups are still on the circuit and are as authentic as Triggers broom.

Re: Tribute Acts
Some friends of mine had a plan to form a mixed tribute band combining songs from three very similar bands which would have been called 'Deep Rainsnake'.

Never happened unfortunately.

I don't know who is worse - the tribute bands or the people who pay to see them.....stay at home and put on an album of the original artist.

We have a venue here called The Forum. It gets some really good tribute acts and costs 12 quid entry. Fab place

I’m going to see Pearl Jamm next month. Only £10 for a ticket and at a nice small intimate venue where you don’t have to watch on a screen.

see Brit Floyd a few times and worth every penny, they are brilliant

Re: Tribute Acts
I think they have their place, particularly if the originals are either finished or should have stopped years ago and many people never saw the original band.

I was too young to see Genesis with Peter Gabriel, but The Musical Box do astoundingly accurate recreations of early 70s Genesis shows. I think members of Genesis have seen them and said that TMB are better than they were back then!

Unless they perform on the bill at a festival I attend I wouldn’t cross the road to see a fucking tribute band
